James Cobb





Born in 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri, James claims Oklahoma his home since age 6. Cobb studied Science and eventually became an M.D. practicing Surgery in Norman, OK.

Cobb began painting in 1989 and chose a very deliberate tutorial approach. Cobb studied with chosen masters from The Art Students League in New York City and The Chicago Art Institute.

Ironically, Cobb returned to teach art at The University of Oklahoma. Cobb stressed the importance of drawing as the cornerstone to improving one’s studio work. Cobb continues to lead workshops in drawing and painting, primarily at The Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Cobb is an award winning artist and currently maintains a studio in Oklahoma and New Mexico.
